On Dec 4, one segment of the NewsHour wih Jim Lehrer featured former
senators John Danforth, Dale Bumpers, Warren Rudman and David Boren.

Some comments made by Danforth appear to be the official line for
manufacturing W's legitimacy. At one point, Danforth said: "The fact of
the matter is we will never know who really won in Florida. ... this is
a rough approximation. We hope the person with the majority won. But we
will never clearly establish that."

In my opinion this is a lame excuse for the failure to have a complete
recount, and for not examining the undervote ballots in particular.
However, this line will become extremely convenient if, after these
ballots are examined under the FOI law, it turns out that Gore received
more votes than W.
