At the risk of inciting riot, in Excel: =NORMSINV(arg) where arg is the area under the Normal curve from - infinity to z, and z is the result. to go from z to the area, use: =NORMSDIST(z) where z is the Normal deviate (so called!), and the result is the area under the curve, from - infinity to z. rest assured, I am aware that these are _not_ the equations for calculating what you asked for. but they will put the tables onto a spread sheet or into a function, if that is what you need.
