Beyond the Formula Statistics Conference

A conference for all teachers of introductory statistics

Date: August 8 - 9, 2002
Location: Monroe Community College, Rochester, New York.
Description: The central focus will be "How does a classroom instructor actually use
the new curriculum ideas and modern techniques to teach a beginning statistics
course?" To attend conferences and learn about all the wonderful new ideas presented
is great, but it does not go far enough. There needs to be more emphasis on exactly
how instructors can incorporate these ideas into their course, into their curriculum,
into their teaching techniques, into their evaluations of students and course. There
will be several presentations in the areas of curriculum, teaching techniques,
technology usage, and applications.
Speakers: Joan Garfield (Keynote), Beth Chance, Mark Earley, Patricia Kuby, Allan
Rossman, John Spurrier
