No, I don't think that is the convention.  I would take either "pdf"
or "PDF" as meaning "probability density function".  The usual
abbreviation for the distribuiton function is "cdf" or "CDF" - for
"cumulative distribution function".  I think it is good practice to
always put in the "cumulative", since many people will have a tendency
to misinterpert "distribution function" as meaning "density function".
