Well, the four moments of a pdf are (in order): mean, variance, skewness and kurtosis. There are also product moments there, but that is another story. Now, I guess that you know how to calculate the first two. For the other two look in a book like David Howell's "statistical methods for psychology". Now, about you second query, well this is not so simple I'm afraid.
