of course, if we follow the trend of journals (like APA ones) demanding 
some effect size statistics ... RATHER than reliance on p values from 
traditional significance tests ... AND,  we try to test the significance of 
the difference in two sample effect size statistics ... are we not right 
BACK into that quagmire of looking at p values and trying to figure out 
what they mean?

instead of trying to de-emphasize p values ... we are just moving them to a 
"different statistic" level
