During the last few years in our classes for first year's university students we used Moore and McCabe's textbook `Introduction to the Practice of Statistics'. But now our department is looking for a textbook that stresses applications in economics (which are weakly represented in Moore and McCabe's book).
Can anybody recommend us a textbook that - deals with economic subjects such as time series and index numbers, - also stresses practical aspects of statistics, and -if possible- - does not have a too wild lay-out, - keeps the number of pages modest.
