(Edstat switched from listserv to majordomo in 1999.)
Note that the edstat list is run from North Carolina State University, not the University of North Carolina -- a distinction we take seriously in these parts! In addition, our statistics department has virtually nothing to do with the list, except that our systems administrator has graciously set up the archives at http://jse.stat.ncsu.edu/archives/.
It was the university computing center that was (justifiably) unhappy about the prospect of having the university's IP addresses blacklisted. You can blame me for the censorship that spares the list from approximately 40-50 spam messages a day.

Please mail any responses to me to, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Kjetil HalvorsenIt wouldn't do you much good to get on Edstat. The stat dept at UNC is so concerned about "dialog" and messages being taken as "SPAM" and complaints from Edstat readers, that it has essentially dried up. Academic freedom is no more. There are no interesting threads anymore, they are all on sci.stat.edu and sci.stat.consult.
