i don't think i should let this comment slide by ...

the handout above ... was done for a class i teach and was based on the 95% confidence intervals i had presented in my book re: inferences about a population mean when you only have sample data ... including, using the estimate of the sd based on the sample data and using a critical t value in the calculation of the CI

i think you need (if you are at all interested) to have a look at the pdf file handout ... decide if there ARE gross errors, or ... decide if the whole thing is gross, or ... decide that the handout seems to be fine

i will not make that judgment for you
