Hi Robert, It sounds like you put a lot of thoughts on this issue or you have way too much free time. If you have an idea concerning the fairest (may not be prettiest) grading system, please post it in the newsgroup. There's always going to be people complaining whether you grade on the curve or assign grades based certain number of correct answers. For instance, there's no guarantee that SOA exams are of same difficulty level each time. So someone getting 9/10 questions right last time may not be a better acturial candidate than the person that only got 7/10 right this year. Grading on the curve also has its drawback.
