McMaster University is in Hamilton, Ontario, about 40 miles west of
Toronto:  not what Canadians usually mean by "the eastern provinces".
It has indeed made a name for itself in health-related fields.

I take it you mean "the University of York"?  York University is
located at the northern edge of metropolitan Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
