Sorry, everybody - I misread this (up to my eyeballs, as Chair on the
first-day-of-term) as "science *fair* project" which is a whole 'nother
kettle of worms. 

        If this is an in-course science project, a simple plot of the data and
means will do marvellously; the use of the word "appear" to qualify any
observation ("Short-term memory appears to be less...") in combination
with common sense about effect size ("... but the difference of means is
small compared with the difference within groups, so it may not be
significant"  or alternatively  "... almost all the 50-year-olds scored
less than any of the 20-year-olds" )  is as far as anybody needs to go
in terms of sophistication at this level.
