It depends on the level; one should not take a course at a
low mathematical level first, preparing to take what must
be a beginning course at a higher level later.

I recommend the second edition of Bickel and Doksum, which
is not the same as the first edition.  The coverage is much
better than others.  More formal and classical is tha book
by Hoel, Port, and Stone.
