I have several repeated measures which were collected over time in a sample of controls.  I began my analysis with a simple within-subjects repated measures ANOVA.  Now I want to allow for different covariance structures and random factors.  In SPSS, I specified a mixed model and began by specifying a random intercept but received the error “the covariance structure for the random effect with only one level will be changed to identity.”  Is this an warning that I should be worried about?

I am attempting to allow the intercept to vary between subjects.  Thus, it would be a simple 2-level random intercept model.  My guess is that this error message is simply telling me that the intercept is not estimated from the model rather it is directly observed from the baseline values.
