Unfortunately you are looking for logic and justification from people in a position to not need to provide it. If they were just a little wrong, then it might be sane to assume it is just a matter of a little education on the facts, and their position will move. They are very wrong and obdurately wrong, which should be taken as a clue to something else. The reality is that their position will not move an inch based on obtaining a better understanding of the facts. My position (whatever it is) is based on an understanding of that particular fact.
