> We just got some new printers, HP LaserJet P3005n's yikes! i don't have any specific suggestions for you, i'm afraid, but i've had a serious problem with the P3005n with ubuntu 6.06. We actually ended up returning the model that we got to the vendor. Some of my travails are documented here: https://docs.astro.columbia.edu/wiki/beetle https://docs.astro.columbia.edu/ticket/443 the highlight: i was told by HP support that "sometimes the print server will crash because of the network it is on", with the implication that this is perfectly normal and acceptable. I acknowledged that the network cable needed to be within electrical specifications, but they said that the data sent over the network itself could crash their print server. For a network-enabled device in anything approaching a public environment, that's obviously unacceptable. anyway, beware of that printer. --dkg -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Processed by Mailcrypt 3.5.8+ <http://mailcrypt.sourceforge.net/> iD8DBQFF8DxDiXTlFKVLY2URAnNEAJ9JTbRlUf4LUvoLCvBSuVnEHsjjdACgj3IQ fKQj86JwM7veMzmaaB51+nQ= =76fs -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- edubuntu-users mailing list [email protected] Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/edubuntu-users
