I've this sort of problem on one config and managed it by disabling desktop sounds (system>preferences>sound). I think there are conflicts between pulseaudio-esd-alsa but I'm not clever enough to discover in witch way. We could open a bug but I'd like to know more about that. Did anyone else have the problem?
