I've had a look around and the below link http://help.ubuntu.com/community/UpgradeNotes indicates that I will need to go to 6.10 Edgy then uprade again to 7.04 Feisty. Sounds okay to me. I'll have to see if I can get the guy who originally installed it to give me some telephone support while I'm doing it.
