For me htop shows 8 CPUs but that was available immediately via the 
linux-image-server
kernel (or generic if you don't need access to more than 3.2GB of RAM).  But 
I'll give
it a whirl anyhow.  I can print fine to larger memory printers, but not to low 
memory
jet direct served printers.  I don't understand what makes the mouse jerky and 
the
client response slow until the job is queued even when things print properly. 
Understanding of this may give guidance to what the real problem is.  When 
printing from
a non-thin client things work perfect (printing to low mem printers and no 
sluggish
mouse).  I even added a HD to my DevonIT thin client and did a full local 
install of
Edubuntu, the the client printed perfect without any delays to the low mem 
printer. 
Something about the remote X session must get pissy when spooling the print 
jobs.  I
wish I understood that process better.
