I searched the archives On my edubuntu 7.04 system If you run it with this command gcompris -x it works fine. In fact it runs better than it did on our old K12ltsp 6 system which made our lcd monitors complain about out of range signal.
As pointed out by David Trask if you want to change this command so everyone's menu does the right thing, edit this file /usr/share/applications/gcompris.desktop find the part that says Exec=gcompris and replace it with Exec=gcompris -x I hope this helps someone. I know it worked for my gcompris that kept shutting immediately after opening. I haven't had any problems with Tuxpaint.
