Hi All,

Just to clarify, I am part of a project called eTux, http://etux.osrn.org.za/

I am a techie, I am trying to get teachers to give me material that they teach
computers with here in Durban, South Africa, so that I can start some Generic
Course Material ( GCM ), but I am finding it difficult.

I will hopefully be seeing a teacher in KokStad ( aprox 270 Km from Durban ) in
November, who I have heard is very keen to set up the Generic Course Material (
GCM ), I only started calling it that when I wrote the previous e-mail, could
not think of any thing else.

One of the apps that was asked for was reading software, and I think that the
KidsOpenICDL would be great.

Hi All,

TuxReader - http://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/tuxread/

KidsOpenICDL - ICDL type of course, tailored for Kids, Teaching the basics of
Computing, OpenOffice - PenPal letters and the like to teach WordProcessing,
TuxPaint, etc.

Generic Course Material ( CCM ) that helps teachers start teaching classes,
then they can build onto the course for their own lectures

Hope this helps

William

OK, thanks, but this still doesn't answer my original, really basic
question: what does a "literacy package" do? What do you use it for?
Learning to read and write with a computer? What else?

Thanks,
        Marco
