Hi, Does anyone have any tips for getting autologin working with Gutsy thin clients?
I recently set up a thin client environment for testing purposes. When I'm not using autologin, everything works as expected. The client boots up and provides a login screen, and the user is able to login manually. When I try using autologin by adding the LDM_USERNAME and LDM_PASSWORD variables to lts.conf, the client boots up normally but where I'd expect it to login with the credentials supplied in lts.conf, it just sits there with a black screen and an 'X' cursor and goes no further. Nothing appears in auth.log on the server. My lts.conf (I'm using the one in /var/lib/tftpboot/ltsp/i386/) is simply: [default] LTSP_VERSION=5.0.39 SERVER=192.168.5.100 [00:01:02:03:04:05] LDM_USERNAME=user LDM_PASSWORD=mypassword where 00:01:02:03:04:05 is the MAC address of the client. If I comment out the two LDM_* lines and reboot the client, everything works as expected and I can login manually. I've had a quick search, but can't see what I'm doing wrong (although I don't have a great deal of Linux experience, so may have overlooked something obvious!) Any suggestions?
