Yes, I think you're right, but it still doesn't work. Maybe I can go in as a
user, change the preferences within the browser and then search for a file
in the chroot that has been recently changed (ie firefox.js with the updated
preference changes)? Is there an easy way to do that? Identify the most
recently changed file in the system? -joe

Did you rebuild the image after adding it to the chroot?  I'm thinking that
would be required.
