He has put a lot of time into this. Clear OS is the successor to ClarkConnect. This is a good direction for most to take since you can DIY or hire from a network of support. You can help John for all he has done for us. Also, 1. OpenSuse integrates the stack well and includes Kerberos for identity management. 2. Sun has open sourced their directory stack. 3. I shared a good FreeBSD .iso that does all of this, too, a few months ago on this list. 4. The CentOS based LDAP/SAMBA/NFS stack is rock solid for the DIY among us. I use this 5. Fedora's 389 Directory server, ported to CentOS, does not give you the GUI for NFS and SAMBA. It's just a great Directory server 6.
