Hi Matt,

thank you very much for your reply.

We are using the /etc/init/ltsp-shutdown.conf from an older Edubuntu version and this file tells our LTSP Clients to use "poweroff -fp", so
the ZBox Nano shuts down fine here. (This file was removed in Edubuntu 12.04, but it fixes the shutdown problem.)
But using the "poweroff -fp" way to shutdown the clients seems to create a new problem: -> WOL don't work.
So either i must get the ZBoxes to shutdown the "normal way" (using shutdown -h now instead of poweroff -fp) or i must find a solution that
the network interface keeps online when using the "poweroff -fp" method.

Subject: Edubuntu 12.04 LTSP - Shutdown and wake on LAN problems with Zotac ZBox

We are using Edubuntu 12.04 with LTSP in our primary school.
As thin clients we use the Zotac ZBox Nano ID61.
One big problem is that the clients don't power off with "shutdown -h now" or "poweroff -p". They only power off when using "poweroff -fp".

Now we want to use wake on LAN to start all the clients with Epoptes, WOL itself works fine with the ZBox Nano, but when using them as an LTSP Client the "poweroff -fp" option seems to completely shutdown the network interface and WOL don't work.

Can anybody help us to get WOL to work?

Hi X,

I can't help with WOL, but I have modified the ldm source to send poweroff -fp when 'shutdown' is clicked from the ldm greeter. This forces a shutdown when the user selects it. Would you like the .deb for that?
