The MAP, the Research Master in Metaphysics and Mind at USI, Lugano (
www.map.usi.ch), invites applications for a four-year grant for a doctoral
student in Philosophy.

Starting date: March 1, 2020 (or as soon as possible thereafter)
Application deadline: December 1, 2019

The doctoral student will work under the supervision of Prof. Kevin
Mulligan and of a co-supervisor chosen among the professors teaching at the
MAP (https://www.usi.ch/en/education/master/philosophy/professors). The
candidate is also expected to undertake administrative tasks in support of
the MAP and, more generally, in support of the academic initiatives of the
Direction of the MAP. He/she will work as teaching assistant in courses at
the MAP, helping in the preparation of teaching materials and tutoring
students. Moreover, the candidate should present papers at scientific
conferences and submit papers for publications in philosophy journals.

The candidate should satisfy the following requirements:
A Master (or equivalent title) in Philosophy by the time of the appointment,
AOS: metaphysics, philosophy of mind, ancient or medieval philosophy,
Fluency in English and Italian

The application should contain:
A letter of motivation
A complete CV including a list of three experts able to assess the
competence of the doctoral candidate
Copies of relevant diplomas, certificates as well as the full transcript of
records that prove the candidates’ eligibility for doctoral studies in
Philosophy
A writing sample (at least 3’000 words, in English)
