Paris-Est Créteil, IHPST) Our presentation deals with the testimonial update problem: how a rational agent should update her beliefs upon learning the opinion of someone else? We will study this issue in a probabilistic framework, where it is assumed that the agents are endowed with probabilistic degrees of belief. In this setting, there are *prima facie* two approaches to deal with the testimonial update problem: one may follow the supra-Bayesian approach and rely on a general update rule (the use of Conditioning being the most salient option) ; or one may follow the aggregative approach and use rules for combining (or “pooling”) probability distributions (typically, variations around averaging). This duality raises the question of knowing whether and when the two approaches coincide. Our presentation focus on Weighted Averaging (a.k.a. “Linear Pooling”) in the 2-agents case where one agent learns the other agent’s precise opinion toward some proposition *A*.
