Applications are open for:

the MAP –Research Master in Metaphysics and Mind at USI, Lugano, Switzerland



The MAP programme:

- teaching by some of the most renowned, leading figures in contemporary 
analytic philosophy.

- focus on metaphysics, philosophy of mind, ancient and medieval philosophy.



- guarantees a personal tutor, who is one of the professors of the Master and 
provides: regular, one-to-one tutorials, feedback on written work and guidance 
about future academic careers.

- research-oriented programme, aimed at preparing the students to the most 
demanding Ph.D. programmes around the world.

- based in Switzerland. Switzerland is committed to investing substantially in 
all areas of research, including philosophy. Switzerland often makes available 
generous research grants both in universities and at the national level. The 
Swiss National Science Foundation awards both individual grants and grants for 
research projects and training networks.



- is currently in its third year. So far, all our graduates have been admitted 
into a PhD programme or have received a non-academic job offer before the end 
of their Master. Details will be published in due course.

Teaching comprises lectures, master classes, discussion of presentations and 
papers by students.

The MAP is a complete Masters programme over two years. It also offers several 
exchange opportunities (for example: Amsterdam, Geneva and Barcelona) which 
complement nicely the local programme.

Merit-based scholarships and research student assistantships are available.
