Well, no it wasn't opened in English before, partly because of Simple
English Wikipedia (we had to think on our position related to SEWP,
especially as long as we had the project to be a WM sister project)
And there is still other "big" languages that have virtually no
encyclopedic wiki for children (German especially).
The Russian Vikidia does not have a real community yet, I hope we'll
achieve that.
By the way, the first and present users of http://en.vikidia.org mostly
come from the other Vikidia and from Wikikids.nl (which is not possible
in a a less widely learned language as Russian). It's quite funny that
Dutch, Spanish and French kids work together on it !
