update. We had one of our teacher training sessions in preparation for next semester. Before we got started, the professor I mentioned earlier and I tried several ways to try and get the link to work. No luck. He was logged in to his wiki account but neither by clicking on the link or by copy/pasting the URL did we get anywhere.
We did a bunch of other stuff, including creating user pages, and getting started on translation assignments in talleres (sandboxes). I tried again with registering the teachers in the course extension as students, putting the link on my es.wiki userpage and voila!!! the link worked for all, including the professor who could not do so earlier. Could it be that the user has to make a number of edits before they can register as a member of a class? Might be an es.wiki thing. Im still trying to get admin's attention over there to allow professors to create classes even though they dont have a lot (or in some cases very little) general editing experience. Everything works fine as long as you do not add a slash sign into your page name.
