Hello,
i use the Eee PC S101. The signal is about 66 near my router (1m under
the desk) and no shutting off/on. The signal is very weak (30) and
shutting on/off in the range about 5m without barriers. With Windows XP
i have no problems. The signal is better and no shutting off.

Regards
Heiko
