Let me be more specific.....
Booting from the LiveCD image you have to log in as user jack password jack.
You can then open a termnial window and pfexec ksh or whatever. You can not
log in to the GUI directly as root. If someone else has installed to the
hard disk and set up  new root password along the way then you do have a
problem. I know about 6677682 but am curious as to whether the new eeepc
still has the same chipset to which that BugId refers.
