I was using a 4GB SD card before I moved over to the SSD, so yes :-)

Depends what you need - lots of stuff is available in the opensolaris
package repository these days...

I just upgrade using pkg image-update, except I do that on an external
USB hard disk (as my 4gb SSD isn't big enough) You should be fine with
an 8gb SD card though. Gory details attached (that was for a fresh
install, but I do similar zfs send/recv on pkg image update as well).
Yes it does get rid of existing drivers unfortunately, but it leaves the
old boot environment around, and I'm pretty used to just copying the
binaries back across from there. As the drivers become more stable,
they'll get integrated into the main gate, and we won't have to do that
any more.

Yeah, Menno had got me to try something similar (and I never got back
to him with the results - sorry Menno) here's the output:
timf at beag:~/Desktop# ./luvcview
luvcview version 0.2.1
Video driver: x11
A window manager is available
video /dev/video0
Unable to set format: 14.
Init v4L2 failed !! exit fatal
timf at beag:~/Desktop#
No luck with v4l on the eee under OpenSolaris as yet.
cheers,
tim

Yeah right - that's going to happen!
