It's common knowledge that MS has sabotaged Windows OS DNS host lookup on MS
machines.
For those that don't know, if you try to edit the windows hosts file to
alter the IP address of most Microsoft domains, you can't.
Example, try adding the following to a Windows machine hosts file, and you
will find that the hosts file is ignored for these domains:

127.0.0.1 msn.com
127.0.0.1 msdn.com
127.0.0.1 microsoft.com
127.0.0.1 windowsmedia.com
127.0.0.1 microsoftupdate.com
127.0.0.1 windowsupdate.com

There are many more that MS has sabotaged, this is just a few.

I have tried using the Endian 'Edit Hosts' GUI but I can not enter the
domain name without also entering a host name for the domain. I have even
tried using the content filter black list.
How can I stop access to these types of sites?
