endian firewall community is no stripped down version but the base of endian firewall enterprise, like fedora is for RHEL. thus, contributing to endian firewall enterprise is only possible by contributing to endian firewall community. while we would like to release all functionality also with the community version, the market has driven us to a point where we necessarily needed to make differencies within the both versions in order to provide an added value to the enterprise version also within functionality and not only by providing support, maintainance, upgrades and hardware warranty. it is very sad, but the reality shows us that this is really needed in order to keep up and expand our business and the project as well. the enterprise version currently has the following additional features: * endian network integration: - updates triggered by a button on the firewall GUI - fully centralized (synchron/asynchron) updates of multiple installations triggered by a button on endian network - monitoring with notifications - remote management (ssh/web) also of firewalls which are not directly reachable from the outside (behind NAT) * automatic scheduled backups, with configurable retention * possibility to automatically send backups per mail * routing editor with possibility for policy source routing * hotspot (captive portal) with: - account management - surf ticket manager with free, prepaid or postpaid possibility - account balance, access logs, statistics - integration within hotel management software * VLAN support * VPN firewall which allows to create centralized filter rules on the openvpn server which also filters connections from client to client. * easy to use graphical openvpn client for linux and windows * http proxy analysis report (sarg) * own very proprietary layout which matches our homepage layout and includes new icons. from time to time we will include enterprise features within community version and of course we also develop new features for the enterprise version. i hope time will come where we don't need to make such differencies anymore. peter -- :: e n d i a n :: open source - open minds :: peter warasin :: http://www.endian.it :: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
