I have a PC with Endian installed on it. It's been running OK most of the
time, but on Friday we lost internet connectivity.

I could connect to the firewall through the web interface, however, I was
unable to ping anything on the internet side of the firewall - including our
internet router.

Rebooting the firewall PC didn't fix the issue.

I called our ISP who confirmed that they could see our internet router was
online OK.

In the end I fixed the problem by shutting down the firewall box. Removing,
then re-seating the red NIC. The firewall then worked OK.

I know this is a strange issue and I don't expect anyone to know what caused
the problem. However, I need to have an ultra-reliable firewall (we're soon
going to put all our phone calls through the box as well as internet traffic
(VOIP system)).

I'm considering the following courses of action...

1) Replace the PC for something more reliable. Can someone suggest an ideal
unit to run Endian on?
2) Buy an Endian appliance
3) Buy a different sort of hardware firewall
4) Do nothing, hope I don't get any more problems!

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Al
