Regarding further configuration, you're saying I would manually set my NIC
IP on my computer, use a twisted cable into Endian, and enter
https:192.168.2.254:10443 in my browser and then I should be off to the
races???

The install script asks you for a static IP to start. Then you can 
connect to that IP via port 10443 [https] login and reconfigured your 
network as needed.
