Hello all,

First off, a big thank you for all who helped so patiently.
I just start with the last important steps.

After contacting my ISP, I got the information which seems to get me going.
Here the info:

the first answer:
-----------------------------
I actually think the problem is due to our system and not yours. The
modem caches what it was last connected to. The problem is that
sometimes it doesn't forget. As the modem thinks it is connected
to a D-Link it will not give an IP to your Linux box. When you connect your
Linux box you will need to call us at 1-877-469-0418 so we can clear the
modem's memory.

after mentioning that I poweroff the modem, I became a even more clear
answer:

To get technical it's not really the modem that caches what it
was last connected. It's the CMTS here at Access (ISP). Therefore we need
to
clear the CMTS for you to be able to grab an IP.
-----------------------------------------

So, this sounds promising and I will let you guys know how I make out on
that.
And this is now what I am doing. :)

After a new install and not misled by the green square for the green nic,
(just ticking the connected nic at that time), phoning my ISP to clear the
cache and hardcoded the MAC of the nic (spoofing didn't help here as
mentioned in my earlier posts of the original thread) I was connected to the
net and all was working as expected.

Again, thank you for your time, help, tips, hints and patience.

Greetings
Johannes
