I have Untangle running as a test on my network. I am looking at trying to
get a site2site vpn tunnel working from untangle to endian (or vice-versa).
Has anyone implemented this successfully yet? (i also posted in the untangle
forum but no answers yet).

Wharfratjoe...

I am trying to get the Untangle (not appliance) version working on one of my
spare XP machines and then put inline with my Endian box. We also have an
Untangle Appliance in the datacenter. I will see if I can get a VPN
connection up between the two.

Let me know if you've had any successes/failures in your previous attempts.
My boss knows someone at Untangle, as when we've had problems - I make one
phone call and its resolved. Nice guys too.

Thanks,
Jason

Hi everyone,

I'm quite surprised regarding the cpu that snort uses... It's
constantlay around 99%, sometimes gets down to 90% and when there's no
download, it goes down to a more "normal" value (don't ask me what
a "normal" value is... it's just not 99% all the time ;-) ).

98.8% 36.5% 118:04.22 snort

The computer is not one of the latest of course, but i don't remember snort
being so greedy (for example before the 2.2 rc3 that occur 3/4 monthes ago but
to be honest, i haven't looked at the cpu rate before today, just beacuse my
download rates are very poor for some times now, and i have some spare time to
track down the problem...)...

The firewall now runs only a minimum of services (ie : ids on, no out-firewall,
no proxy, no vpn, no ipsec, some port forward (3), and there is 1 red, 1 green
and 1 orange)... Before going into material specs, does anybody experienced
trouble with snort and efw 2.2rc3 ? If yes, i don't ask anything else, just
go into re-install.. if not, i'll check for a more recent hardware (it's
at home, so i did not put any euro in the hardware so far... only re-used
computer)

Thanks in advance for any info, and best of wishes for the new year to come to
everyone...

Stéphane

HI.
I use the Cisco VPN client in order to establish a vpn. It's ok!.. but..
I have tried to use endian as client. I have config ipsec (roadwarrior, psk)
but I obtain "invalid cookie".
Why?
good year!
Paolo

Ive sometimes seen this happen with other services when the
firewall can't locate an update server. If you log onto the
efw box with a terminal, can you ping outside locations like
www.google.com?

Cisco's vpn is a little different on the spec and protocol (assuming you're
using something like the '3000).  Look for the vpnc project, which is an open
source client that works awesome.  I'd love to see it added to Endian too.

Hi,

>From the box, i can ping www.google.com... everything is working quite well
except that my download rate is poor, and that snort uses lots of CPU... I
don't know if it's relevant to associate both of the issues though...
