I have an Intel Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter in my HP desktop firewall system
which needs to use the e1000e driver. Even after installing the devel rpm
packages I can't get the driver provided by Intel or hosted on Sourceforge
to compile and build the binary network driver. I know the adapter works
because I tested an install of Windows on the box to verify it during the
troubleshooting process. It looks to have an issue with finding the right
directories with the kernel during build and blows out of the driver
compile. My system is an AMD i686 system but the driver compile fails with
paths looking for i586. The kernel knows the adapter is there because lspci
sees Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation Unknown device 10d3.
