On Ubuntu 9.04 (jaunty) you can even use Network Manager as OpenVPN
client.

First of all install the package:
sudo apt-get install network-manager-openvpn

Inside the Network Manager menu you can now find the submenu "VPN
Connections", click on "Configure VPN" and create e new connection.

For a standard Endian OpenVPN account (based on username, password, ca
cert) you can basically chose "Password" in the "Type" field.

For compatibility reasons you have to tick the following options:
in "Advanced"
- "Use LZO data compression"
- "Use a TAP device"
in "IPv4 Settings" > "Routes"
- "Use this connection only for resources on its network"

Leave default configurations for the rest and enjoy!
Luca

PS: There is an option called "Connect automatically" but actually for
me it doesn't connect at boot.
