I have tried to add a host as you suggested however its ignored by
the DNS lookup using 192.168.1.1(EFW local IP) as DNS server in my
PC. It will simply resolve to the public IP.

Ive also check /etc/host.conf and it looks correct "order hosts, bind"

I think this is called loopback NAT which works fine using an off the
shelf BB router such as linksys/dlink/zyxel/etc. Also Ive found some
posts which mention that it used to work in EFW 2.1.x.

Thanks,
Vikash.
