Hi everyone,

some might have heard from the Asterisk integration for eGroupWare
developed from the Leibniz Rechenzentrum (datacenter for the
universities in Munich).

Here's a short description from Deti Fliegl the developer:

Our project is currently hosted on a wiki page
(http://netzwiki.lrz.de/wiki/index.php/AGIS) and requires a more
suitable environment. We started the project to fill the gap of open
source management systems for the well known Asterisk PBX. Currently
there is no system that provides an abstract, generic backend service to
the Asterisk system. We developed a framework based on a SOAP API that
allows you to access: - voicemails - call listings - call forwardings -
personal preferences like ringtones, phone passwords and PIN codes etc.
- all administration tasks like adding new extensions or devices Further
the AGIS package contains scripts and tools for provisioning
(snom)-phones with appropriate configurations and automatically
maintaining extensions. The current package is in production use in
different places since Juni 2006 with more that 200 users each!

Deti

I (Ralf Becker) offered to host the eGroupWare application, talking via
the above described SOAP server with Asterisk, on the eGW svn and make
Deti Fliegl an eGW developer to further maintain and develop it.

I also offered to host the SOAP server in an own svn repository if Deti
wants that and sees fit. His plans are to promote that server for more
then eGW use, as there's no single webservice interface to all Asterisk
services available.

As always, I will add Deti as developer and the app to our repository,
if no one objects.

Ralf
