The ejb-ref tag is used so that we can eliminate implementation and network
sepcific use of JNDI. I think this is explained in his book just after the
deployment descriptor. you can then look up the bean using
java:comp/ejb/BeanHome. this is done inside the container which is why
clients dont use it.
