Hello,

First of all thanks for your answers.
I will explain better why I cannot use JMS. The JMS api's conform to a set
industry standards which MQSeries does not have to conform to. This means
when interfacing to MQSeries the JAVA API's can access every level of
function that MQSeries supports. In my problem I have to use features like
grouping, data conversion, ... , that JMS doesn't support. So, I have to use
MQ Classes for Java.
The process that reads the queues has to interact with other EJBs. So, I
think that it has to be on the AppServer. I suppose that this situation is a
little strange. If someone has more ideas, pleae tell me.

Thanks

Paulo

Paulo;

It seems a little peculiar that you can use MQSeries,
but not JMS, since MQSeries *has* a JMS API which is
allegedly completely compliant. This would then allow
you to use MessageBeans.

At any rate, does this batch process just read
messages from queues, or does it also need to interact
with EJBs ? If it is the former, why do you need to do
it in WebLogic at all ?

If it is the later, I can think of 3 ways:

1. As you said, a WebLogic client process could read
messages from the queue and invoke the respective EJB.
2. A WebLogic startup task could spawn some threads
and periodically wake up and go to work, or simply
wait on the queues. (See T3StartupDef)
3. Instead of the T3StartupDef, you could use JMX.

If you need to invoke the batch process periodically,
WebLogic has a Timer which can invoke tasks on a
schedule.

Your constraints sound a little peculiar. Perhaps you
cpould challenge them.
