I don't see why lack of threading should be seen as a disadvantage, its
only bad on certain OS's. TP monitors such as Tuxedo do not have threads
but support extremely high levels of scalability etc. IMHO (and this is my
opinion) industry desire for threads has been driven by lack of decent
support for processes in a certain OS.
As Imre says, programming threads is hard. It makes sense for server
providers trying to squeeze the last ounce of performance out of a system
but not for app developers.
