As well, try-catch-create eats up a lot of CPU time. Core Java 1.2 has some
amazing numbers concerning the speed of try-catch blocks. I usually don't
harp about Java speed but, the performance from try-catch is a bit
cumbersome to deal with. Especially on the client side...
Has anyone tried to use the new high performance VM from IBM (1.1.7) with
any EJB servers? (http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/SockPerf)
For those who are curious. IBM has released a new VM for 32Bit Windows
platform that delivers incredible performance. Because of licensing issues
they have packaged it with a Socket Testing program (SockPerf). Inside the
SockPerf is the IBM VM which is a real screamer. I did some tests with
Swing1.1 and it is real nice. It is rumored that the VM is written entirely
in ANSI-C and IBM is going to be porting it to a whole bunch of platforms.
:)
I am curious to see what kind of effect it can have on some of the EJB
servers and servlet engines.

Subject: How to handle SB timeout?
Hi guys! How are you handling SB timeouts in your client code? Catching
NoSuchObjectException for every remote call? Recreating the SB?
I don't want to have this same try-catch-create code cluttering
everywhere in my client code.
