I think SQLBase from Centura has a demo version that can be downloaded from
their site http://www.centurasoft.com/products/downloads/ Maybe you can make a
deal with them...
They have an jdbc driver (a bit buggy for my taste, but...) and you can always
use Sun's jdbc-odbc driver against it. We are using the jdbc-odbc driver in
favour of theirs jdbc driver. I'm sorry to say that Centura have changed
direction from Java to Microsoft, which may explain that their jdbc driver 1.0
has not been to frequently updated (never ;-) In SQLBase 7.5 a new driver is
released but we are still running 7.0.
