Another possible solution with EJB1.1 is to make a simple bean which is
registered in the java:comp/env namespace. This allows simple
implementation and easy access to it, and there is nothing (AFAIK) in
the EJB1.1 DTD that limits what types of resources can be bound into the
namespace (specifically the "res-type" element has no limitations on its
contents). The question is whether the actual EJB1.1 implementations
introduce any limitations on what interfaces or classes that may be
used.
