VERSANT Enterprise Container 2.0 now supports WebSphere 2.02 and
WebLogic 4.5
---

Hello everyone,

(I hope you don't mind another 'shameless plug', but now it's too
late, here it is)

Versant is pleased to announce the availability of the VERSANT
Enterprise Container 2.0 (VEC 2.0) - the integration of the
leading
Object Database (VERSANT ODBMS) with the leading Application
Servers.

VERSANT Enterprise Container 2.0 supports:
- IBM WebSphere 2.02 Advanced Edition (NEW)
- BEA WebLogic Server 4.5 beta
and is bundled with:
- VERSANT ODBMS 5.2.2
- JVI 2.3.3

For a general description of VEC, please visit
http://www.versant.com/us/products/ejb.html.

VERSANT Enterprise Container 2.0 is now available for download
from our website; please visit http://www.versant.com/download/.

-------------
Why should you be interested?
If you
- are interested in scaling EJBs
- have a complex Java domain model that you need to persist
- have selected a leading application server
- want transparent object distribution in the middle-tier
- are encountering performance and/or mapping problems with EJBs
- persisting using JDBC, want a platform that supports direct
object persistence to cache your data

Then you should start using VERSANT ODBMS and integrate it into
your application server environment by using the VERSANT
Enterprise Container.
-------------

VEC 2.0 is now integrated with IBM WebSphere (announced in the
press release at
http://www.versant.com/us/company/copress37.html)

VEC 2.0 has also upgraded its integration with BEA Weblogic
Server 4.5 beta and includes some significant improvements
(thanks to VEC Release 1 users who provided excellent feedback).

In addition, the following enhancements were made to VEC Release
1 (integration with BEA Weblogic Server Release 3.x):

- Very simple build procedure
- Improved support for Container Managed Entity Beans:
now the user has the flexibility to make the bean
itself persistent or map the bean to a persistent object
- Memory management for VEC cache
- VEC Session Manager allows for evolving schema.

If you should have any questions about this announcement or the
product itself, please address them to me - thanks.

Thank you for your time,
Holger Antelmann
